Introduction

Two Options For HNDS Majors 1. Pre-Dietetics / Dietetics Option The Pre-Dietetics/Dietetics option is an accredited program with an admissions requirement. Please download and read this handbook to learn more about the program, the application process, and the application fee. The Dietetics Option within the HNDS major emphasizes dietetics sciences with many foundational science courses. This option enables graduates to pursue the registered dietitian credential and work in clinical, community, and a variety of other settings. The Dietetics Option is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The mission, goals, and objectives of NMSU's Dietetics program can be viewed in the student handbook. Contact the Programme Director for program outcome data. ACEND Accreditation Standards - Dietetics Option 2. Nutrition Education Option The Nutrition Education Option within the HNDS major emphasizes nutrition and health science, and instruction. Graduates will be able to provide education to the community and the general public regarding healthy living and healthy eating.
