Chair of Theory and History of State and Law was established in 1992 at the chair of History and methodology of teaching Soviet law, which was in charge of the candidate of historical sciences, professor Naizagarin T.A In the part of the department worked on the corresponding member of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor G.S.Sapargaliyev, Candidate of Law, associate professor Aiyupova Z.K, Candidate of Law, associate professor Beibit M.S, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Taibakova S.T. and others.

On the personal initiative of the rector of ASU name Abai, academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Sadykov T.S. based on this department was established in the Faculty of Law in 1992.

The first head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, was an academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor Sapargaliyev G.S. Before converting the department in 2010, its association with the Department of Constitutional Law, the department in charge Doctor of Law, Professor Z.K Aiyupova. At various times, the department was headed by academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor Sapargaliyev G.S. (1992-1994), Doctor of Law, Professor Aiyupova Z.K (1994-1997), Doctor of Law., professor Tabanov S.A (1997-2000), academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor GS Sapargaliyev (2000-2006), Doctor of Law, Professor Busurmanov J.D (2006-2000), Doctor of Law, Professor Aiyupova Z.K. (2008-2010). Currently, the chair manages a combined Doctor of Law, Professor Duisenov E.E.

At various times at the chair of Theory and History of State and Law taught by such eminent jurists as academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor Sapargaliyev G.S, academician of NAS RK, Doctor of Law, Professor Sabikenov S.N member Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, Professor Udartsev S.F, doctor of Law, Professor Kenzhaliyev Z.Z. , Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Law. , associate professor Baikadamov B.K, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Idrisov K.Z, and many others.

Currently, the department has three Doctor of Laws, eight candidates of law, two candidates of historical sciences, and six senior lecturers. In 2011-2012, the academic year was published 3 monographs (Aiyupova Z.K Duisenov E.E, Ischanova G.T), 2 manuals (Aiyupova Z.K, Duisenov E.E).

Members of the chair systematically working to improve the professional growth of teachers and teaching.

For the convenience of students of all the lectures and courses, which are read by teachers, have electronic versions, which are published on the website of the University and are available in the reading room and library of the University.

Transition to credit system of education has stimulated the results of students` progress and their personal interest in obtaining a quality education.

Research Center «Aitylgan Tarikh»

The activities of the Center are aimed at research development and specialist training in the field of oral memory analysis. The main task of the Center is to organize and support academic resources that promote the use of oral data.

Oral memories of people allow you to get all sorts of information. The interviewing methodology, the questionnaire, the method of transcribing, the interpretation of materials largely depend on the original objectives of the study, which is based on one or another academic tradition. Methods for obtaining and analyzing interviews have many options. «Aitylgan Tarikh» as a scientific direction makes it possible to interdisciplinary interaction, exchange of methods and approaches formulated in various scientific fields.

Activities of Research Center «Aitylgan Tarikh»:

• Recording and transcribing interviews;
• Information support;
• The training of specialists;
• Research projects;
• Creating an archive of oral materials.

The main goal of Research Center «Aitylgan Tarikh»:

• Keep the memories of people of Kazakhstan through oral interviews and distribution of transcripts of oral history for researchers, students, and society as a whole;
• Reveal new historical facts through the recollections of eyewitnesses or contemporaries of historical events of the past;
• Create a fund of oral memories in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan and periodically replenish it with the most important research materials;
• On the basis of the data center staff to conduct scientific - research work.

The main objectives of the Centre are:

• Implementation of research, expert - analytical, as well as training by training;
• Organization to obtain additional professional education on oral history undergraduates, doctoral students, researchers, and faculty members and persons interested in oral history;
• Study and summary of national and international experience in the fields of research, held by the Centre; involvement in the research work of the Scientific-teaching staff and graduate students, doctoral students of Abai KazNPU, and persons interested in oral history;
• Participate in the development of the university as a center of education, research - historical knowledge;
• Organization of joint scientific - research activities with international organizations.
