Introduction

Barranquilla is a musical city, the Coast is a musical region that feeds and grows on the rhythms created by empiricism and creativity typical of those who inhabit the Caribbean. The academic program of the CUR responds to a need to professionalize a profession that is practiced spontaneously; provide all those who feel and are curious about music, the theoretical and practical tools to act as ambassadors of our regional and national folklore, as good jazz improvisers as well as virtuous interpreters of the universal classical repertoire. Barranquilla Community Symphony Orchestra The Reformed University Corporation supports the activities of the Barranquilla Community Symphony Orchestra, directed by Maestro James Schutmaat and which already has a tradition of more than 20 years. To date, the orchestra is made up of 35 musicians, including students, teachers, and citizens of Barranquilla who know how to interpret a symphonic instrument.
