Introduction
The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of Psychology marks an important milestone in our 50-year contribution to society. As part of our commitment to preparing graduates to meet the global challenge of the 21st century, we invite spirited and passionate young people from different parts of Indonesia and from across the globe to be part of this exciting journey and make a difference in their local and global communities. The Program is regionally-accredited and certified by ASEAN University Network; it has many international partners, offers a unique educational experience in which students can explore psychology from the cultural, indigenous, and spiritual lens; as well from the state-of-the-art lens of neurosciences.
Why Psychology at UGM?
Psychology is a study of mind, brain, and behavior, and is one of the most vibrant and rapidly changing fields of study. The field covers a wide range of topics such as perception, thoughts, emotions, and actions –from infancy to old age– as well as social phenomena in group, organizational, educational, and cultural settings.
Our faculty offers an excellent educational experience for our students to deepen their knowledge in psychology. In this faculty, we study the complexity of human behavior from various angles –from the bio-neurological to the socio-cultural. Our academic staff is spearheading the national scholarships in the area of cognitive neuroscience, mental health, as well as indigenous psychology. As a leading psychology program in Indonesia, our faculty has attracted the most talented students from within the country and from around the world, who consider us their home. We pride ourselves for producing skilled graduates including researchers, practitioners, decision-makers, and community leaders in a broad range of professional fields.
Academic Life
Students make the most of their experience not just in the classroom, but also beyond. The faculty of psychology provides engaging academic and extracurricular activities for our students. Opportunities to get involved, have fun, and grow are designed to be part of the faculty’s campus life. Under close mentoring of the faculty members, many of our undergraduate students are active in presenting and publishing their research in national and international forums. The faculty also has seven different student organizations tailored to the diverse interests of the students, including its nationally renowned Student Mountaineering Club, as well as other clubs such as Student Government Association, Student Theater Club, and Student Media.
