The Japanese studies program fosters detailed, nuanced knowledge and understanding of various aspects of pre-modern, modern, and contemporary Japanese culture and society, including history, language, literature, visual culture, politics, and economics.

The concentration in Arabic has an emphasis on developing strong language skills, including literacy and oral communication, along with an in-depth understanding of modern Arabic culture and society.
