Central's BA (Hons) Acting (Musical Theatre) degree course provides you with the skills to work in classical and contemporary theatre, musicals, feature film, television and radio. Throughout the course, you will explore acting through a range of contemporary approaches to sung and spoken voice, movement and dance. As an actor, you will interrogate both musical and non-musical settings ranging from Shakespeare and the modern American realists to Sondheim and the popular musical. As the course progresses you will acquire the necessary skills for the realization of ‘character’ in both the transformational and heightened theatrical styles of both spoken and sung performance. The course has outstanding links with the performing arts industry and this is reflected in the wide range and high percentage of graduate employment. Students are entitled to full Equity status upon graduation.

BA Drama (Musical Theatre) consists of six modules in musical theatre (a third of your degree) alongside an exciting range of Drama modules that will equip you with the skills to perform, make, explore and analyse a wide variety of performance work.

Develop as a triple-threat performer who excels at singing, acting and dancing, with our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree course in Cambridge. As a Musical Theatre student at ARU, you’ll train with industry professionals, take part in showcases and productions from Year 1, and gain real-world experience. On our BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree you will gain skills unique to musical theatre training, specifically actor-musicianship, physical theatre, dance and choreography.

Our program allows you to gain hands-on experience in theater arts working with various teachers dedicated to refining your mastery of this fine art discipline. Whether you aim to star in Broadway musicals or continue learning with a theater conservatory, our musical theater program will provide you with the training you need to develop your techniques, range, and style. As a result, you won’t need to focus exclusively on voice, acting, or any other single type of dramatic art performance. You can pursue all your interests within the fine arts, hone your craft through at least eight mainstage productions and graduate as a sought-after professional or graduate school candidate.

With a bachelor of arts in theatre, students inherently learn essential management, communication and problem-solving skills that will help every aspect of their personal and professional lives – on top of becoming experts in their chosen concentration.

The BA (Hons) in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre is an innovative three year course that offers students the chance to develop diverse professional technical and performance skills. The course prepares students to excel across all disciplines as they engage with an extensive range of vocational disciplines including Musical Theatre, Acting, Singing, Voice, Ballet, Jazz, Tap & Contemporary.

You are interested in a career in theatre, but also want to build a Biblical foundation. Through a dual enrollment agreement with Lincoln College (LC), LCU offers the opportunity for students to acquire a foundation in Bible/theology and Christian worldview formation by completing an AA in Bible at LCU and a BA in Theatre at LC. Students will live in the LCU residence halls (with board) for the duration of their dual enrollment.

A Musical Theatre major provides students with performance and production skills including acting, singing, and advanced vocal techniques. Students gain knowledge of the fundamental elements of music, directing, and design. Coursework exposes students to vocal training, theatre history, and literature, acting and directing, playwriting, and design.
