The program includes instruction in healthy child and adolescent development, parent-child relations, family structure, families and trauma, play therapy, environmental influences on child and adolescent development, and additional topics related to child advocacy and the child life profession. Students participate in practicum experiences in settings of their choice that deepen their learning experience and provide valuable networking opportunities.

The mission of the Child Development and Family Studies program is to be first and foremost proactive in its holistic approach to working with diverse individuals and families. Much of our work is educational in nature, focusing on improving clients’ current and future abilities to function. In addition, we collaboratively seek to empower individuals facing challenges across the lifespan.
