The Rosenstiel School Undergraduate Program offers both Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree options. The program curriculum includes sciences, mathematics, and liberal arts, allowing students to develop interests in and appreciation of the arts, humanities, and social sciences as well as the natural sciences. Marine Science is a well-rounded and multi-disciplinary program which has been carefully designed to take full advantage of the unique variety of marine environments available for study around the island of Hawaiʻi.

The Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences presents an interdisciplinary curriculum, which works on developing the students’ knowledge, skills and fundamental attitudes of the marine sciences, and the application of these to environmental scientific research, to the management of marine resources, the responsible use of these, and the conservation of the marine and coastal ecosystems.

The Marine Biology Program is recognized for its quality through national quality accreditation carried out by an accreditation body, recognized by the Council for the Evaluation of Higher Education, COPAES, AC The Study Plan and its Curricular Structure, is comprised of 350 credits that, according to the guidelines of School Control of the MEIF Educational Programs, are taken in a standard time of 7 periods (3.5 years) with a short period of 5 (2.5 years) and a long period of 11 ( 5.5 years).

The Bachelor in Aquatic Ecosystem Analysis programme offers possibilities for careers in governmental organizations at all levels, water boards, research institutes, consultancy companies and non-profit organizations.

The Marine Science Biology degree is one of the defining degrees at The University of Tampa and a pivotal double major to the Department of Biology. The Bachelor’s degree in Marine and Environmental Science is inherently interdisciplinary, so our curriculum is designed to integrate core concepts across General Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. We believe that active engagement in research provides the best platform for the development of critical thinking, quantitative, and writing skills. Therefore, as a requirement for graduation, all students enrolled in our program have to complete a senior research thesis working with a faculty advisor. Upon graduation, our majors are highly qualified to enter graduate schools in the areas of oceanography, marine science, and environmental science.
