The program will prepare students for graduate studies in speech-language pathology and audiology. There is a nationwide shortage of speech-language pathologists and audiologists so they are in strong demand for jobs. The undergraduate major can be pursued as a Bachelor of Science (B.S.).

The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) major at Thiel College serves the higher education needs of pre-professionals as they advance their careers and reach their personal enrichment goals. This interdisciplinary curriculum readies students to compete for admission to graduate school and prepare for a career in the professions of speech-language pathology, audiology, and research. Clinical practicum at Thiel’s on-campus Center for Speech-Language Services enables students to apply theory to practice at the undergraduate level.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders’ goal is to provide an academically challenging pre-professional education in the fields of speech-language-hearing pathology and audiology in an environment that encourages intellectual and spiritual growth and preparation for graduate school.

The Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders prepares students with the skills needed to provide care to individuals with communication disorders. After graduation, students will be eligible to apply to graduate school in the fields of speech-language pathology, audiology, or a related field. Graduates of the program are be eligible to apply for licensure to practice in the State of Texas as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant.
