Highly ranked by the Princeton Review and the prestigious U.S. News & Report - and offering over 40 majors - Georgia College & State University (GCSU) is a four-year bachelor and master's degree-granting institution located in the sunny Southeast of the United States. GCSU is the official public liberal arts university of the State of Georgia. No other university in the state has this official designation.
The term “liberal arts” is derived from the Latin words for “generous/bountiful” and “skills/practices.” A liberal arts education provides students with a broad-based education that is personalized and “hands-on.” This approach enables students to:
- Find and follow their interests and passions,
- Work closely with their professors
- Become highly skilled in their majors, and
- Develop analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as
- The creativity and nimbleness to lead, to thrive, and to excel - no matter what the future brings.
The Princeton Review has recognized GCSU as a “Best College” for 14 consecutive years. The prestigious U.S. News & Report ranks GCSU as number 3 in public undergrad teaching (South, 600+ universities), number 6 in Top Public Schools (South), and 16th overall (South). Forbes magazine calls GCSU one of “America's Top Colleges.”
Located in the sunny, quiet, beautiful, and historic city of Milledgeville (Just two hours south of Atlanta), one of the hallmarks of GCSU is the intentionally small size of its classes, and the caring and personal interaction between faculty and students.
Nearly 7,000 students attend GCSU, including nearly 100 international students from 27 different countries. GCSU's International Club is GCSU's largest and most active student organization. Choose from more than 40 majors in fields you want to study and that are in demand by employers worldwide. From arts and science, and business and technology, to education and the health sciences - GCSU has it all!
Georgia College & State University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctorate degrees.
