Research Focus
The Case Study Initiatives
As part of the University’s confluence with the region, Amity University Dubai houses a Middle East Centric Case Centre, which greatly contributes to a deeper understanding of business within the region. The cases are hosted at the largest global repository of management cases, articles and books known as ‘The Case Centre’. In addition to this case study work, the University has also published a compendium of Middle Eastern focused case studies written by in-house faculty.
Interest in the case studies is global and comes not only from universities but the business world as well. For example, they are used in Management curricula in intuitions such as the University of Cranfield, the University of Maryland, and the University of the Witwatersrand. In addition, organisations of the calibre of McKinsey & Company, US and StratX US also use the studies. Additional proof of their popularity can be seen in, for example, the case study on ‘Nokia: Repositioning Brand in the Smartphone Segment’ which features in the top 20 most popular downloaded copies, and the case study ‘iCare Clinics: Landmark's Leap Into Healthcare’, which featured in the top 20 best selling cases between April to September 2014.
This popularity is in part explained by the breath of the studies, as they cover areas as diverse as the Free Zones of the UAE; conglomerates in the form of Landmark and Emaar, and multinationals like Nokia and Yum! (in the Middle East); government programs like Takamul and Nitaqat; or the impact of the Expo 2020 on various sectors of the UAE economy. Consequently, they provide an invigorating experience to students as they are stimulated to deliberate on potential viable solutions to the authentic situations highlighted. This in turn ensures that the mission of Amity to enrich the student learning experience around the globe is guaranteed.

Amity University, Dubai has made its presence felt in the corporate world in UAE in a short span of its existence in the UAE.
It has become a desired source of fresher recruitment by leading companies across different sectors through the outreach created by sustained activity of the Corporate Resource Centre (CRC) at the campus. The Annual Placement Week of the University, held during the months of March/ April is a huge draw amongst the corporate world. More than 35 top companies visited the campus this year during the Placement Week including some of the top companies in the Great Places to Work annual list of desired employers in the Middle East like Danzas, Apparel UAE & Azadea Group. Some of the other regular recruiters of Amity Dubai students are Citibank, BD, Sharaf Shipping, Ritz Carlton, Group Harwal, DNV-GL, Orient Insurance, Fleming Gulf, Telelogix, Noor Islamic Bank, DNATA to name only a few.
Apart from this the CRC also actively supports all students in their seamless and effective transition from the class-room to the work-place. This is achieved by sessions on resume writing, interview handling skills, critical thinking skills, mock interview sessions, exposure to Industry role models through the Guest Lecture Series, Alumni Interactions and timely industry visits. The dedicated two month internship program in the month of July & August of Amity University also helps to develop desired competencies in the students.
Alumni Network
Nurturing and fostering our relations with alumnus of Amity is at the core of our existence as a center of academic excellence. Alumni Networks are an important platform for networking, social as well as professional, worldwide.
As part of our endeavor to have greater Alumni involvement in the Institutional Activities the Corporate Resource Centre has the Amity Alumni Masters Forum.
This forum is a platform for showcasing the Alumni as a role model and ambassador to our students and subsequently integrating them into the BUDDY / MENTOR Program at the campus. Through this forum Alumni role models share secrets of success with students on campus as 'Alumni Masters'. The students have the opportunity of coming face-to-face with the CEO of a billion-dollar corporation or understanding the routes to enter one’s favorite sector from a successful manager from the top company in the sector.
Such experiences can direct the future for students, and the Amity Alumni Masters Forum makes them available to Amity Dubai students. As they build their lives and careers, they serve as mentors and role models for current students.
Providing students with the chance to interact with some of Amity University’s most influential alumni gives students a different perspective on success. Students who only read a biography about someone might not grasp the hardships and failures they endured on their way to success.
The program takes advantage of the experience and wisdom within Amity’s alumni body, bringing successful graduates back to campus to interact with students and faculty. Through a variety of events and meetings, students learn about the "master's life" beyond a résumé, the bad times as well as the good.
Almost no one gets it right on the first try, and by exposing students to the idea that adversity and failure can eventually lead to something positive, and thus they are much more prepared when they enter their own careers.
Alumni Masters are men and women from a variety of professions who have set new standards of accomplishment by which others measure themselves. And for each of them, their Amity University education was the beginning of their success.
The program also endeavors to sponsor alumni (in any of our Executive MBA Programs, if they so wish to enhance their skill sets) as a step towards the overall success of the program and add prominent Amity alumni with unique qualifications to our roll of Alumni Masters.
