Introduction
The 1st Cycle Degree Course (Bachelor Degree) in Environmental and Forest Sciences aims at educating professional people, providing them with a strong general knowledge, general theoretic, concrete basics, specialized competence and practical concepts. It enables them to tackle different issues related to the environmental and forest sector, and in particular the production, processing and management of forest, the farming and woodland resources, the land and environment protection within the symbiotic relationship between plants and environment.
It especially aims at providing young graduates with:
- appropriate basics to let them use analysis instruments in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry and biology; these are necessary in order to understand and interpret biological events and to protect forest, farming and woodland ecosystems;
- knowledge and competence in the forest sector, especially concerning the following areas:
- management and valorization of the territory and forest, farming and woodland resources and protected areas;
- elaboration of projects and forest activities;
- counseling and guidance to companies in this sector;
- production, processing and marketing of forest products;
- estimate of goods and services;
- elaboration of projects concerning hydraulic and forest arrangement and intended to protect and keep the soil and territory from hydrogeological instability using soil bioengineering techniques;
- management of fauna;
- capacity to analyze and monitor mountain environment and forest ecosystems;
- capacity to control and prevent environmental risks within natural parks, reserves and protected areas;
- capacity to evaluate the environmental impact of projects and works pertaining to the forest sector;
- knowledge of company administration within the forest sector, including economic, management and organizational aspects.
