Introduction

The College of Nursing and Allied Health is comprised of one school and three departments working together to prepare diverse populations for careers within the health professions. Among its units are the School of Nursing, Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Department of Rehabilitation Counseling, and the Department of Recreation & Leisure Studies.

The School of Nursing was created in 1985 and is one of the top producers of undergraduate baccalaureate degrees awarded in nursing to African Americans in the U.S. The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is one of the first at a historically black College or University. The Department of Rehabilitation Counseling (CRCP) is structured to prepare students for effective and efficient clinical rehabilitation counseling service delivery to persons with varying disabilities while addressing multicultural issues. The Department of Therapeutic Recreation & Leisure Studies has produced many professionals since the 1970s.
