Introduction
Please note that this program is entirely taught in French
The diploma of Professional Superior Technician in Geology of UniLaSalle prepares the entry in the industry of technicians and agents of control recognized and appreciated by the professional world in the field of Sciences of the Earth and the Environment. Homologated at level II - equivalent to the first university degree of License (Bac + 3), it allows the pursuit of studies in Master.
This training essentially targets two industrial sectors:
- planning and environment
- energy and mineral resources
Planning and Environment
Technicians use traditional disciplines such as geotechnics, soil mechanics, hydrogeology and geophysics as part of development work. They also work on environmental themes (soil pollution, waste management and storage, natural risks, etc.).
Energy and mineral resources
Technicians explore and exploit natural and energy resources such as metals, fuels (oil, gas, coal, etc.), industrial minerals (feldspar, gypsum, etc.), construction materials (cement, aggregates, sand , gravel, refractory materials, etc.) or even groundwater.
Why become a Geologist Technician?
This 3-year operational training will quickly confront you with the reality of the profession. In direct connection with the field and the material, you learn the daily life of the geological technician and the technical gestures specific to geosciences. The course gradually invites you to gain autonomy and adaptability, qualities required to organize your future professional missions yourself. At the end of this unique training in France, you are the technical expert awaited by environmental and resource companies. The sustainability of deposits, risk prevention and interactions with the natural environment are the major global challenges in which you will be able to invest as a responsible professional.
Pursue your career with an Engineering degree in Geosciences and Environment
A fine observer of the Earth and the rocks that compose it, the geological engineer mobilizes his scientific knowledge to:
- Anticipate and manage natural risks for land use planning
- Valuing and protecting water resources and depolluting natural, urban or industrial soils
- Explore and sustainably produce natural resources
- Developing new energies to support the energy transition
- Deploy 3D digital models to help predict and decide
- Identify the geo-bio-reservoirs at the service of the carbon neutrality of the territories.
3 career paths:
- Sustainable Mineral Resources (RMD): 1st semester Subsurface DATA / 2nd semester: Production of sustainable mineral resources and recycling / 3rd semester: Innovation, geomatics and mining 4.0
- Geo-energies, Climatic risks and Territories (course in English): 1st semester: Subsurface DATA / 2nd semester: Sedimentary and marine geosciences / 3rd semester: Geomodeling, geo-energies and oceanigraphy
- Planning and environment: 1st semester Planning, water, environment / 2nd semester: Characterization and hydrogeotechnical tests / 3rd semester: hydrogeology and SSP or geotechnics and natural risks
Admissions
Curriculum
Engineering training in Geosciences and Environment is accessible after 2 years of pre-engineering cycle.
It is structured around 4 main stages:
- Go LaSalle, a first international experience from the 1st semester
- 1 semester of common core specialty
- 3 semesters within the career path of your choice, including a 4-month “assistant engineer” internship
The last semester of the career path can be completed in a partner university , in France or internationally, as part of an exchange semester, a double degree or a diploma stay. - The end-of-study project , which is based on an internship in a company or a research internship for students with student status, or on a long period in a company for students following apprenticeship training.
It gives rise to the writing of the end-of-studies thesis and an oral defense .
