Applied Research

Trier University of Applied Sciences is committed to high-performance and application-oriented research. Thanks to its innovative strength, it has managed to reach and consolidate its position as the university of applied sciences with the highest amount of third-party funding in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In doing so, it distinguishes itself particularly through three future-oriented research areas:

  1. "Applied Material Flow Management"
  2. "Intelligent Technologies for Sustainable Development" and
  3. "Life Sciences: Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology, and Biotechnology"

Interdisciplinary teams develop future-oriented solutions to the social challenges created by globalization, the digitalization of life and work, climate change, and the associated demands on sustainable energy production and resource management, as well as the challenges posed by an aging society and the increased need for a healthy and secure life. Special meaning is awarded to a combination of sustainability and innovation, which form the basis of this developmental approach.

Three Campuses. One University. Exceptionally Diverse.

With around 7,600 students, Trier University of Applied Sciences is the second-largest university for applied sciences in Rhineland-Palatinate. A strong focus on application and practice, innovative teaching methods, and the strong combination of teaching and research characterize our studies.

On three campuses we offer 80-degree programs in the fields of Economics, Law, Environmental Studies, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building and Supply Engineering, Food Technology, Computer Science, Games, Therapy Sciences, Architecture, and Design, thus presenting a diverse educational program unique in the region.

Main Campus Schneidershof, Trier
Located in Trier, Germany’s oldest city, our Main Campus fuses traditional faculties with modern courses of study. A wide variety of Bachelor and Master degrees can be obtained on this campus, which comprises the departments of Computer Sciences, Architecture, Business and Engineering and Technology.

Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, Birkenfeld
Living, learning, and working in a truly innovative place: The Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, located on the edge of the Hunsrück National Park, offers students interdisciplinary study courses in the two departments Environmental Business and Law as well as Environmental Planning and Technologies. “Sustainability First” runs like a common thread through all our teaching and research.
