BA (Hons) in Acting

RWCMD enjoys a very good reputation within the acting profession. Through collaborations with professional organizations, visiting directors, actors and casting agents, we provide our students with the experience of real working conditions and enable them to make vital contacts within the industry.

At the beginning of your course, you will participate in a range of classes and workshops designed to build your confidence in making instinctive decisions and in working collaboratively with colleagues.

In later classes you will work with scripts, building characters and relationships. You will receive training in movement skills, exploring physical approaches to the development of character and methods for the safe, economical use of the body as well as basic dance techniques. Vocal skills classes teach you the essential techniques relating to speech, singing, accents and the effective use of the voice. You will also take classes in stage combat, developing skills in fencing and unarmed combat in preparation for the British Academy of Stage Combat´s Proficiency Examinations.... [-]

BA (Hons) in Stage Management

Final selection for entry to the BA (Hons) Stage Management is made on the basis of an interview.

Candidates who are successful at interview are usually expected to gain a minimum of 240 UCAS Tariff points, or equivalent qualifications, prior to entry. Equivalent qualifications include Scottish Highers, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, WBQ, International Baccalaureate, Advanced GNVQ, AVCE or Advanced Diploma (Level 3) and recognised international qualifications. However, the minimum conditions attached to any offer of a place are based on individual applications/interviews, and will often be higher than the minimum requirements stated above.

BA (Hons) in Theatre Design

Final selection for entry to the BA (Hons) Theatre Design programme is made on the basis of an interview and portfolio presentation.

An A Level or equivalent qualification in art and design is the minimum requirement for entry. Equivalent qualifications include Scottish Highers, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, WBQ, International Baccalaureate, Advanced GNVQ, AVCE or Advanced Diploma (Level 3), and recognised international qualifications. We recommend that applicants undertake a general art and design foundation course before entry. However, the minimum conditions attached to any offer of a place are based on individual applications/portfolios presentations/interviews.... [-]

BMus (Hons) in Jazz

Entry to the BMus (Hons) Jazz course is by audition. We expect instrumental and vocal candidates to be able to demonstrate an excellent technical facility and a musical/stylistically aware approach to performance, including improvisation.

Candidates who are successful at the audition are usually expected to gain at least two A-Levels, including Music, at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications before entry.

Equivalent qualifications include Scottish Highers, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, WBQ, International Baccalaureate, Advanced GNVQ, AVCE or Advanced Diploma (Level 3) and recognised international qualifications. ABRSM theory qualifications at Grade VI or above may also be considered as an alternative to A-Levels.... [-]

BMus (Hons) in Music

Entry to the BMus programmes is by audition (or by interview for composers and creative music technology applicants). As a guide to the minimum standard required for entry, we expect instrumental and vocal candidates to be able to demonstrate musical ability equivalent to that required to gain a Distinction at ABRSM Grade VIII. Composers and Creative Music Technology applicants will be asked to send examples of their creative work to discuss at interview.

Candidates who are successful at audition/interview are usually expected to gain at least two A Levels including Music, at grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications) prior to entry. Equivalent qualifications include Scottish Highers, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, WBQ, International Baccalaureate, Advanced GNVQ, AVCE or Advanced Diploma (Level 3) and recognized international qualifications. ABRSM theory qualifications at Grade VI or above may also be considered as an alternative to A Levels.
